Obviously being an osteopath gives her a unique perspective. This is not only about how the body should function but also around how Pilates can help recovery from injury and also injury prevention.

In the 1920’s, the Pilates Method created by Joseph Pilates, a series of exercises to combine physical fitness, mental health and control of breathing with the aim to improve posture.

Pilates is performed to balance the muscular and skeletal system that protects the body’s supporting muscles and ligaments with the aim to reduce the risk of injury with economical, mindful movement by building core stability for physical strength and flexibility.

Emerging recent research is showing favorable results in adolescents with a history of back pain had better movement in the upper body and trunk. A twelve week program of Pilates at least once per week in older adults results showed may reduce the risk of falls and Pilates had a positive effective on mobility, postural balance and improved walking.

STOTT Pilates quote “Our signature STOTT PILATES education method is unparalleled in the industry for its thoroughness and quality.”
STOTT Pilates take pride in their high standard level of training, originally based in Canada with Master Trainers from physiotherapy and sports science and have training centers worldwide.
